For the second year in a row, the employees of Loraas Disposal, Loraas Recycle and Loraas Landfill are spreading their Christmas cheer to the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre. For days, they have been collecting non-perishable food items to donate towards the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre’s Tree of Plenty Campaign. Loraas has matched the employee’s efforts, resulting in over 4,000 pounds of food.
“Loraas Disposal is always honoured to support the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre, especially during the Christmas season,” says Aaron Loraas, Vice President of Loraas Disposal. “We believe the food bank is a vital organization to help solve the underlying causes of food insecurity and poverty in our community. We are honoured to do anything we can to help out.”
In addition to the food donation, Loraas continues to offer the Food bank its annual in-kind waste and recycling service, which is worth approximately $30,000 per year.
“Loraas Disposal has been a great supporter of ours for years, and their contributions are instrumental to our daily operations,” says Laurie O’Connor, Executive Director of the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre. “Today’s initiative is yet another demonstration of the commitment that Loraas Disposal has for supporting the community that they work in, from all levels of the organization. This donation is a major contribution to our Tree of Plenty campaign, and the continued service support is vital in helping us meet the needs for the growing number of people that come through our doors.”
Thank you Loraas and Loraas employees for being champion community partners!
