YXE Connects is excited to announce the third annual event on May 15th, 2017. The event will be held at White Buffalo Youth Lodge & City Center Church (602 & 720 20th st W). From 10 am until 4 pm.
YXE Connects is a multi-sectoral, single day event in Saskatoon that provides support to individuals that may be facing multiple barriers to accessing areas such as housing, financial education, chronic disease management, social services, legal services, refugee and immigrant supports, support for Indigenous peoples, as well as public and primary health. Similar events are held in a number of cities across Canada, all drawing on the knowledge that community members, from areas such as the core neighbourhoods in Saskatoon, are impaired by many barriers to accessing services and programs.
The event provides community members an opportunity to get help with multiple issues at the same time in one location. The intent is to build on the success of the past two years, which 600 people attended in the first year, and 1200 attended in 2016. It is anticipated that 1500 community members will attend on May 15th 2017. Last year, 72 vendor stations, covering 66 different services and organizations were present. Additionally, complimentary haircuts, clothing and shoes, hygiene packages and nutritious lunches are available to attendees.
