Calling Community Leaders

Are you eager to contribute your time, energy, and network connections to help an innovative leader in food security strengthen our community?

The Opportunity:

We are seeking local leaders with a passion for making a difference to join the Board of Directors of the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre, an innovative social profit organization running at full capacity in the heart of our city.

The Fit:

We invite individuals with prior experience in board work and community outreach to lend their expertise to our organization’s mission. We also encourage applicants with a well-established history of business and social profit experience and relevant related knowledge, skills and abilities. Specifically we are seeking someone with legal and/or accounting expertise.

The Cause:

We are committed to ensuring a food secure community where all people have access to safe, affordable, and nutritious food. We also believe it’s important to address the underlying issues contributing to hunger and poverty in our community; we offer a variety of programs directly linked to learning and employment opportunities.

The Commitment:

  1. Board member’s terms run for two years; members must attend regular board meetings (approximately eight a year that generally happen between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.) and participate actively in all board and sub-committee work.

  2. Volunteer for and willingly accept assignments and complete them thoroughly and on time.

  3. Stay informed about committee matters, prepare well for meetings and review and comment on the work of the board.

  4. Build collaborative working relationships across all sectors.

  5. Actively raise awareness of and promote SFBLC food and fundraising initiatives.
